Mir I read something on this site about 1-2-3 let it ride. How exactly does that work? What is the "let it ride" component and when does it happen? Does anyone show greater profit than with flat betting or Dahl? 2003-07-19 18:25:21
Grifter Mr. Ed - Please e-mail me. I lost your address. 2003-07-19 06:52:30
Grifter Zebra – I was a counter for many, many years, but now retired and rarely count. I now play strictly for fun and to “beat the house” (and to make a few bucks). Midnite and I have been working for years to come up with a winning method without counting (which mathematically does not exist but we keep trying), or no more than a light count. We lean towards conservative negative progressions, but have tested Dahl, Walter, and other positive ones. 2003-07-19 06:38:31
Ron T phil tx, more than 20 pages ago I did a comparison with a progressive system I use verses a flat bettor and there was no difference in the final outcome - zero impact! I still use a progressive system because when lady luck does smile on me, it's more fun winning larger bets during that time. I'm afraid if you want to play even or have a small advantage over the casino, you must use a counting system. There has been a lot of mention of the Ace/5 system which only tracks two cards the ace & 5 and I'm looking into it along with a few others. I personaly will not be making any 10 or 16 units bets above my initial 1 unit bet as suggested but I still feel it's worth looking into. 2003-07-19 06:29:55
Michigan Dave phil tx-Statisticlly, I don't think any betting manipulation system can be validated better one over the other. If there was one that gave the player an advantage, the casino's would make a rule against it. 2003-07-19 06:18:22
kinkette Mr Ed ~smiling wide~ just the words i needed to hear - thanx! 2003-07-18 23:22:47
phil tx Mr.Ed: sage words indeed!(and straight from the horse's mouth). Loved your summary of increasing after a win and after a loss. When you say that progression betting has ZERO impact on your expected winnings, is that a statistically valid statement or simply a gut level feel? Thanks! 2003-07-18 23:19:37
Mr. Ed Kinkette, RELAX!!! If you don't count, the best strategy is to bet as little as possible - flat bet at the least you can get away with....if you want a progression, it gets a little more complicated, but in the long run, it has ZERO impact on your expected winnings. If you increase your bet after a loss (double after a loss) most times you will win a little bit. Once in a while you will loose HUGE. If you increase your bet after a WIN, once in a while You'll win BIG, but usually, you'll lose a little. So, in short, do whatever you want - maybe you'll win, maybe not. Play basic strategy (at least promise me that!) to reduce the house edge, but as far as beting goes, do what feels good. 2003-07-18 23:01:18
kinkette Going to Vegas in 3 weeks...will someone PLEASE explain to me the betting strategy for BJ in a SIMPLE way??!! ;) 2003-07-18 21:08:37
paulie57 Thats too bad... thought Binion's might still hold out as the "Gambler's Heaven" it used to be. In other news... I programmed the 678 Blackjack Simulator (shameless plug) to play the ace-five.com method using the count against Basic Strategy.... no + or - boxes, just Basic Strategy decisions. The results for 6D S17 LS are VERY close to the system on the web page. Using 1-12 spread player adv. was 0.268%. I will attempt 6D H17 LS over the weekend. In a way thats a back-handed good report, as A5 wager / Basic Strategy decisions are even easier than the system presented. I forewarded the results to "acefive" and in his reply informed me that another page to the website is in the making, and that he has already analysed Basic Strategy decisions for 2,4,6,8 decks for S17 LS play conditions, and "heartily recommends" using Basic Strategy decisions coupled with the A5 betting system. He inferred a more exact + and - decision chart was only 10% more advantageous than Basic Strategy, and the simple +/- decisions on the current web page were a nice compromise. So it would appear from acefive that one can use Basic Strategy and vary the bets in accordance with the wager progression shown at the site. A reminder here that for 6D games to start the running count at -2. --paulie57 2003-07-18 19:02:44
Kobe Bryant Zebra man - Do you have a jumpsuit I can borrow. Mondello-- Do they s17 in the joint? 2003-07-18 16:22:41
Wiz-Kid The simple explination of the beting progression is this : at +2 6 units, then to 12 at +5 this will give you a e.v. of the b.c. at s.d. of e.p. If this is not enough try e.v. of time over spread #of bets and factor of win/loss ratio divided by your b.c.and factor of time at table. If this is still not enough then just grind it out. 2003-07-18 16:20:05
