My wife and I are going to Atlantic City in a few months, for the first time. Where is a good place to stay, you know; clean, not too expensive ($100), within walking distance to the Blackjack Tables?
We stay a Bally's or Flamingo when in Las Vegas, so something along that line.
My wife and I always stay at the Tropicana when we go to A.C. We live about 3 1/2 hrs. away and thats usally where I play blackjack. I always get compt. so I am not sure what the rooms go for. $10 tables are ussally found very early in the A.M. sometimes up to 11 A.M. The rooms are nice and the food is good. Plenty to do and see on the boardwalk. Good luck and have fun.
I guess this may be kind of "slumming it", but a few years back, on a lot of trips to AC my wife and I would stay at the Continental. Hold on before you laugh. Yes, it's a bit inferior to the majors, and yes, the style is a bit out of the 1950s (which was kind of cool). But...the rates are about half of what the others charge, maybe even less. And the best part is it's location. It's kitty-corner from the Sands. Right in the middle of everything. Within the span of a block or two is the Sands, Claridge and Bally's. Also the Boardwalk is right there. Also cool is their balcony rooms (definitely 1950s) that overlook the whole central park area.
We once booked rooms in advance, got there, and found out that their air conditioning units weren't working. This on a 95 degree day. The Continental apoligized, refunded our money, and we stayed for free, three days. That first afternoon the temperature dropped to a beautiful 70 degrees, I hit an $1800 progressive slot, and picked up a few bucks at BJ. One of our most enjoyable trips!
Anyway, if you haven't checked it out yet, try the Continental. Definitely not the Four Seasons, but it's location and prices beat all.
