Walter Thomason Hi DD -- I agree with your analysis. Same reason why I don't think that the system will work in internet games where the cards are reshuffled after every hand. If everyone would quit playing at CSM tables, they'd quickly go away! 2003-07-25 12:21:24
Walter Thomason Hi Ace, I just typed a long response to your question, and AOL dropped me before I posted it! Short version: I believe that streaks of consecutive winning and/or losing hands are longer and more frequent in duration than is predicted by theoretical math and computer simulation. My positive progressive system causes my average bet to be larger during winning streaks than it is during losing streaks, thus creating a profit for the player. The system won't make you rich, but I believe it's better than simple flat betting. 2003-07-25 12:16:41
Desert Dog Walter, I just ordered your book from Amazon yesterday. It may contain the answer to my question, but here goes: In your opinion, do Continuous Shuffle Machines have an impact on progression betting? My thinking here is that progressions -- positive ones anyway -- try to catch the beginning of a streak (or "clump") and get your bet high when the cards are good and move you down to a low bet when the cards turn bad. Because CSM's shuffle back in cards that are just played, does that eliminate the "streakiness" or "clumping" needed to make positive progression betting work? 2003-07-25 11:53:51
AceofSpades Hi Walt, please explain this about a progression betting methods, positive, negative or regressive. My late father was a math teacher, and was great with numbers, and he touhgt me this, it will not matter whether you play your progression for 4 bets, 40 bets, or 4000 bets. It's because for any number of bets there are just EXACTLY so many possible win/lose sequences that can come in.With 4 bets there are just 16 ways things can come out- which makes it easy to see what's going on. With 10 bets there are 1024 ways- no more no less, and with 100 bets the answer is a 31 digit #.But it really doesn't matter, because if you laid them all out on paper and added together the gains from all the winnings sequences, they will always equal the TOTAL losses sustained by all the losing sequences. When you gamble you'll just be drawing one of those sequences out of that big hat whose slips of paper all add up to ZERO. I know you had a book published and all but why don't you come clean and take off your salesman hat, sit down crack a cold one, and admit, your system will make you rich. It's gambling and LADY LUCK RULES. Peace out. 2003-07-25 11:10:48
woulfe1 JC--In your system, do you consider a"push"a non-bet and let the existing bet stay the same 2003-07-25 10:25:54
Walter Thomason Hey Grif --Things remain the same here, but we have a new ship (St. Tropais) competing with SeaEscape... hand shuffeled, good rules, good food, free boarding. Very competitive market at the moment. I'm still playing every week if you get down this way. 2003-07-25 09:47:38
Grifter Hey Walt - Welcome. It's the Ol' Grifter formerly from West Palm. Shame we never played together at your 'boat' or mine when we lived in Florida. 2003-07-25 09:32:39
sld007 Walter - Thank you for participating with us on this board. Your reputation preceeds you and I know that you will be an invaluable resource for us. 2003-07-25 09:01:42
Walter Thomason Hello to all! sld007 just told me about this site... been here before, but never noticed the message board. I welcome any questions about my books or my blackjack playing style, and will check this board on a regular basis. Cheers! Walter 2003-07-25 08:57:00
sld007 good news - I just spoke with Walter Thomason, author of numerous BJ books, including Twentieth Century Blackjack, and he will be joining us shortly to discuss his theories regarding Dahl and his own theories about progressions, etc. 2003-07-25 08:46:02
BuGhOu§eMASTER "Like I said before the odds are against hitting 2 hands in a row."... What do you mean by "HITTING" 2 hands in a row? Dont you mean WINNING? Because you "hit" many more hands than you do "win"... 2003-07-25 07:13:06
crackerjacky Thanks, JC, for your input. Looking forward to hearing how successful you are using this method. Learning Basic Strategy not as difficult as learning how to bet in my opinion. 2003-07-25 07:02:01
J C CRACKERJACKY- I always go back to the beginning. Like I said before the odds are against hitting 2 hands in a row. So when that happens I only want 1 unit out on the table. Then hopefully a winning streak comes along. It has been working for me so far. I guess you can try any version you like, If it works for you, great! I'll be trying the New York again this week while on vacation at the shore, hopefully I can go 6 for 6 with it. I'll post my results next week when I get back 2003-07-25 03:58:11

McFlaherty Can anyone explain the basics of shuffle tracking to me? I've read a little about it on the net, but I find a lot of the descriptions hard to follow. 2003-07-25 00:27:13
Midnite My BJ Tournament jinx is still with me. Once again I managed to snatch defeat, from the jaws of victory. My wife did take third place, so maybe she will give me some lessons.(G) Other than the tournament table, the other BJ tables were kind this trip. Made Much more than I should have, for the time played. Nice to see the cards fall right. 2003-07-25 00:24:33
BuGhOu§eMASTER Sigh.. what an INACTIVE board! 2003-07-24 22:05:10
