the zebra midnite & grifter -- you guys seem quiet on the issue of betting progressions. are you counters? flat betters? hunch betters? if you do progress, how do you go about it? 2003-07-18 13:24:28

BuGhOu§eMASTER sld, NO. I received no emails from you... just say it on here or something, or email me again because I got no reply from you at all. 2003-07-18 13:02:36
the zebra though i may be swayed from my current betting plan, i heretofore will be abandoning my 'el hombre ...' moniker and going simply with 'the zebra' -- i'm sure that is a matter of no importance to anyone but just want to keep the conversation clear. 2003-07-18 12:52:38
el hombre atrevido i can see the value in the conservatism of dahl (and 007) - hitting the sweet spot less frequently but rarely (never) taking big losses on a single series -- this is a compelling combination. but i'm still a bit bored by the style of play -- though it's yielded solid results for sld & others. the zebra gives me much bigger upside (and admitedly, downside) which is what i'm playing for. does anybody know of or use some kind of a random hand-generating engine that could be played identically (i don't think a difference in betting system should ever indicate different game decisions) using two (or more) different betting systems? Even better, are there any programs that some of you technical people use to evaluate a system's standard deviation around an average result (what i would call statistical risk)? 2003-07-18 12:39:26
el hombre curioso thankyou mcf -- sounds like i'm on the same learning curve but still quite a ways further down -- helps a lot -- thanks for the post. 2003-07-18 11:44:34
sld007 el hombre - I like your analysis of Dahl's and my progression. I don't mind only getting to the sweet spot 12.5% of the time as you calculated. Remember, the beauty of any progression is not just that you increase winnings, but that you DECREASE LOSSES and, arguably, stay away from chasing loss streaks by throwing MORE money out there in the hopes of "turnin my luck around". A progression "almost" eliminates the luck factor because the WORST you can do is lose x each time. Not 3x or 5x or even 10x like some counters or "luck chasers" suffer when they try to get it all back with one bet. Also my 007 method has a built in quit point so you don't suffer the last big loss like you do in Dahl. 2003-07-18 11:42:53
np Do you guys that run this site realize that you've got a banner across the top of the table that cannot be removed? Thus, the player cannot see the dealer's cards. Duh! 2003-07-18 11:36:06
McFlaherty el hombre - well I didn't try the ace side count until I was sure I could keep an accurate count with the hi-lo. Basically, I practiced flipping the cards until I couldn't flip them fast enough to challenge myself. I did this flipping 1, 2, 3, and even 4 cards at a time. Then I tried my "luck" out at a couple of casinos, and I found it almost easier to count in the casino environment (not sure why). Just fairly recently I added an ace side count to my efforts, and it hasn't really caused me to break stride. I'm a little slower right now, but with some more practice, I'll be back up to speed. So my advice is to keep flipping through the deck until you can count mindlessly. Then try adding distractions... like doing it in front of the tv, with your favorite show on, or while listening to your favorite music. These will help you with the distractions that arise in the casino. I Hope this helped you. 2003-07-18 11:28:01
sld007 bug - Did you get my im sn that I just emailed to you? 2003-07-18 11:24:12
el hombre curioso mcflaherty -- how are you going about your mastery of the hi-lo / ace side count? what practice exercises would you recommend. i'm flipping through decks and keeping a pretty accurate count with decent speed right now but not close to bringing it to the tables. can you help? 2003-07-18 10:47:29

AceofSpades Yo bug, mellow out, you think you are the only one reading and following this board. Slow down, and things will come together. Flow with the tide brother. 2003-07-17 22:07:56
BuGhOu§eMASTER [NOTE: duplicates were removed] One that comes to mind immediately is TAKING INSURANCE when the true count is +3 or greater... otherwise if you dont count never take insurance... there's tons more but dont have it on me right now... 2003-07-17 21:18:10
