Grifter Bughousemaster - Excuse me. I meant that as a compliment. 2003-07-17 15:57:40
sld007 bug - Are you being sarcastic or funny? And yes I do not play perfect BS... I PLAY FLAWLESS BS!! And you don't have to win 7 hands in a row to get to 100, because I still use Dahl's skipping of levels if you split or double down. I have now read your post again and I apologize in advance in you were being serious. I just get so tired of some of these people. Don't you? 2003-07-17 15:57:19
BuGhOu§eMASTER sld, and I'm pretty sure you play PERFECT BS right?? Do you by any chance have AIM - (instant message service)? I'd love to talk to you more about this stuff in real time!! About your modified progression, sounds really nice.. and you probably didn't get to 100 because that would mean you would have to have won 7 times in a row!!! So... nice job anyway for winning $2000. I should REALLY employ this betting strategy next time I go instead of doubling every time on a win!!! 2003-07-17 15:52:35
BuGhOu§eMASTER Grifter, I am not a "dude", dude. 2003-07-17 15:44:24
sld007 his name is walter thomason. 2003-07-17 15:40:13
sld007 hombre - good post. I recently modified my progression to what I call...the 007 Progression...x,x,2x,2x,3x,3x,4x,4x, and back to x. In this way you speed up the wins by eliminating that "boring" 1.5 step in Dahl, while keeping you from taking that big hit at the end of Dahl. You could even end it at 3x if you like. The important thing is, like you say, when you get that 6-8 win streak going that you have as much $$$ on the table as possible. Last weekend I played 25, 25, 50, 50, 75, 75, and rarely even got to 100...played for about 11 hours and still walked away with about $2000 in profits. I saw alot of good BS players...but they didn't know how to bet! It does you no good to make a big bet if you are going to lose it. It just takes too long to dig out of that hole. Just like the stock market...don't keep throwing good money after bad and don't ever chase a stock if the price keeps going up. Slow and steady...BJ is like guerilla warfare. If you like quick payoffs, play the slots (not really!) 2003-07-17 15:39:18
el hombre gordo i don't know any websites that list betting progressions -- i picked up dahl's from a posting on this website a long time ago and another similar one (philisophically) from a book called 21st century blackjack (i've forgotten the author's name at this instant but he is often referenced on this website -- sld knows his name) -- but i think most of the blackjack writers espouse counting and not progressive betting so you might not have too much luck reading published literature. i got an email a long time ago from a poster -- and the email contained several (pretty aggressive) progressions. midnite -- you were cc'd on the email -- i believe it was from gentleman named erickson -- but i've lost the email in a recent server crash. i think some websites were included in the email as well. but i just make my progressions up -- i know what my risk tolerance is and i just set up a spreadsheet and play around with the mathematics until i come up with something i'd like to try out in the casino. zebra is only called zebra because it came after aardvark, badger, coyote, dingo, echidna, ferret, etc. 2003-07-17 15:38:01
Grifter Bughousemaster - You're welcome, dude. 2003-07-17 15:23:34
BuGhOu§eMASTER el hombre, good stuff... Can yall provide some sites where I can check out diff. betting progressions? Question about the Dahl progression: the way it's setup doesn't seem like you can make a lot of it quickly unless like you said you win 6+ in a row which, given the mathematical odds of BlackJack are not much in your favor... which betting technique DOES favor this? 2003-07-17 15:18:39
Grifter Midnite - Good luck! Be sure and post your results. 2003-07-17 14:59:04
Grifter el hombre - Damn good post!!!! 2003-07-17 14:57:50
el hombre rojo dahl's is definitely safer and i've had some moderate success using dahl's as well, but the reward associated with dahl's is commensurate with the risk, and it's hard for me to get too fired up over small financial gains (my experience)achieved over many many hours (also my experience). this may be immaturity speaking or impatience or possibly greed, but the way i think about the game is that there are short windows of opportunity for the player -- and when those windows open, i want to be in position to shovel as many black chips as possible through them and into the trunk of my car. dahl's is slow and steady but requires a consistently high (52%+ would be my guess) winning percentage and a few long streaks (6 wins in a row or more) to really make any money in a session. (of course this post is not mathematical, but i have developed some progression spreadsheets that more or less bear these statements out). as a gambler i have to decide whether i'm sitting down at a table to limit my losses or to (somewhat intelligently) achieve my win goals -- in what i would call a reasonable period of time. if i come down on the side of playing to limit my losses (and accept small gains), i can think of many excellent techniques for doing so -- buying t-bills for example. by the way, please feel free to criticize my posts / methods / hairbrained logic (just not my spelling) -- this will help me to learn and improve -- which is the reason i check in here with you guys in the first place. my skin is pretty thick -- i can take it. also -- sld & others -- i'm not trying to convince anybody to do anything my way -- i just enjoy putting my ideas out there and read the commentary. 2003-07-17 14:54:42
D Play well Midnite! 2003-07-17 14:53:29
Midnite I am going to Iowa tomorrow, to play in a $25,000 BJ Tournament. Should be interesting. 2003-07-17 14:49:07
Grifter Bughousemaster - 1x, 1x, 1.5x, 1.5x, 2x, 2x, 3x, 3.x, etc., etc. 2003-07-17 14:24:16
el hombre feo you are absolutely right -- it is easy to be kicked when riding the zebra -- so i put a couple of braking mechanisms in place for myself -- four losses in a row means i leave the table -- and a strict 40% loss limit means i leave the casino. these help me to keep some money in my pocket when the planets just aren't lining up for me. sixteen minutes is awful fast, but at $75 a series loss (and more if doubles and splits go south on the initial bet), it is not that unusual to take a beating using this method. 2003-07-17 14:21:12
BuGhOu§eMASTER Someone remind me what Dahl Progression is again? 1x 1.5x 2x... something like this? LoL I need a nice betting progression! I dont want to use my double thing! Suggestions!!! Thanks. 2003-07-17 14:17:45
