Doc Something else happened that was a good lesson for everybody, the player beside me in one game put out a bet that was five times her regular bet and got dealt 2 aces, she moaned and said ' I'm not going to split them on that much money', me and the guy beside me tried to encourage her to split but she didn't, she drew two tens and busted. 2003-07-05 11:52:01
Doc Trip report Tunica: played between 1:30am and 6:am when I had to leave cuz family was coming in. Got in 6 sessions with a 20u buy in, 2 at Ballys single deck (.19 house advantage) and 4 on the 6 deck at the Grand, 3 on a CSM one hand shuffled (HA .33). went -12.5, -19, +10, +10, +12, +10, for a net of +10.5 take home. Another thing I learned from Midnite and Grifter is to take the profit PLUS the 'buy in' on the game back home in a win bank with you, that is once you have used the buy in to win a profit on the session it goes home with the profit and you have to use another buy in from your bank roll to play the next session. Man, after those 1st two sessions did I ever have a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach, but I sucked it up and stuck to my game plan. No disrespect to Deer Dog Deluxe and D, but if you are going to play this game on a regular basis you got to have some cojones. 2003-07-05 11:36:41
Midnite D-Funny. I see you have a sense of humor and are also, quick witted. 2003-07-05 08:57:35
D sld.. all that flack and we know it was just a typo. You meant quick witted girlfriend, right? 2003-07-05 06:13:42
ronman5000 DDog..not a celeb, just saving the bj stash for the Vegas trip, now that the ice is broken, I'll surely be making my way to the Phoenix tables. You reached +60% in 25 min.,you physically walked out of the casino and went home? This is the part I'm having trouble with, but if I start driving 30 min. to play vs. 5 hours, I may be able to pull it off. Thanks for all the info. and advice everybody. This board makes this site. DDog, how often are you playing here in Phoenix? 2003-07-04 19:55:37
acepaula I want to thank everyone for the great advice. I am on my way to the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas. and I am determined to use all I have learned. I promise to play solid BS, using the 1-2-3 let it ride betting system. I will walk if I lose 4 in a row, and always end my session if I loose my 40 unit buy-in. I will not drink, or play if I'm tired.Above all, I will enjoy myself, and if I sould get my clock cleaned, I will hang my hat on knowing I played smart, and hope that my luck will change another day. I will report back in a couple of weeks on the results. Once again-thanks for sharing your knowledge. 2003-07-04 16:19:09
Desert Dog Happy 4th of July everyone (even you, bjcanada)! itontater, I don't understand leaving as soon as you're up by ANY amount. Sure, the longer you play the more likely you are to lose, but I want to feel like I've actually won something, and just one or two units doesn't do it for me. My win limit is +50% of my stake. Yesterday I reached +60% in 25 minutes, so I left. (I used the 1-2-3 progression.) ronman -- you sounded like hitting 13 vs 7 isn't something you wanted to do, but because of what you learned here you did it anyway. As Midnite says, hitting that 13 vs 7 was absolutely the only right move. As for Roulette, there's a joke: save yourself the trouble and just write the casino a check. Final question, ronman -- why didn't you try live blackjack here in the Phoenix area before playing it for the first time in Vegas? Are you a local celebrity who'd be recognized? Like maybe the weather guy on channel 12 or something? 2003-07-04 15:39:20
Midnite ronman- Roulette may be fun for you to play, but it does have a hefty house advantage of 5.26%. A few casino games can be beaten, roulette is not one of them. 13 against a 7, is a losing situation, whether you hit or stand. You will lose more hands than you win. The reason you hit is, you will lose "less" by hitting. Win "more", by losing "less". There are several hands that this is true of. Just because you bust a few times hitting it, does not make any difference. It is Still the right play. 2003-07-04 12:30:06
ronman5000 just got back from MGM Vegas for 3 days...my 1st time playing live bj. Hitting on a Q/3 with the house showing 7 nailed me a few times...my money lasts a lot longer here compared to roulette. after 40 minutes I usually had 50%win....but I wasn't disciplined enough to walk away...it seems my luck improved on the tables with CSM's. 2003-07-04 11:59:39
itonater Thanks to this site for teaching me the modified Dahl progression (x1, x1, x1.5, x1.5, x2, x2, x3 until a loss) A loss limit of four units seems reasonable, but what about a win limit? For me, when I lose a hand, I check to see if I'm up by ANY amount. If so, I walk (to another BJ table, another game, or to the nearest exit) A session ends with a four-unit loss or any any-unit gain. It makes for quick sessions and allows me to speedily find out which tables are fun to be at. 2003-07-04 11:52:55
Michigan Dave Happy I-Day everybody. Just wanted to thank everybody(too many to to name) on this site(especially Midnite Gambler for your e-mails) for sharing your knowledge and experiences. Your insights have removed the "should have" that non-BS players have and taught me the discipline that is a MUST to be a successful BJ player. If you all are ever @ Soaring Eagle, let me know and maybe we can play a few hands. Thanks. 2003-07-04 06:00:34
okohiored that web site is hit or stand .com that midnight steered me to.It does not speak too harsh against the martingale except recommending you be able to lose 512 units. At 5.00 a bet this is over 2600.00 dollars,I plan to take over 1000 units or over 5000.Vegas must be somewhat against the martingale as few casinos allow 5-5000 range. Most are 5-2000 and only if you can find a five dollar table. At a 10.00 table it only limits you to nine losses. I am still thinking of a 7 hand loss at martingale which is 1270.00 after 7 hands than playing a up to 200 a hand after the 7 hands to try to recoup. If I lose 3000 doing this I will probably say midnight and others knew what they were talking about calling me a kamikaze idiot. I have played martingale before with some sucsess and a major failure.Another tactic of casinos is having pit boss tell you that they only consider comping at 10.00 minimum bets. I than tell him no problem and mention a casino next door and say I will take action there. I immediately quit game and usually ahead gather my chips. When I play next day than same pit boss ignores me but I stay on mailing list for free room comps each year. These pit bosses than ask if i need free comps for dinner knowing they pissed me off.Never be afraid to ask for meal comps at casinos . 2003-07-04 03:58:36
BuGhOu§eMASTER Back to odds of losing X hands in a row... I was just thinking... since the odds become increasingly against you to lose 5-6-7-8-9-...15 hands in a row as you reach these losing streak hands, why is it a Bad strategy to not only DOUBLE your initial bet, but maybe 2.5-3X your bet because you KNOW sooner or later you're gonna win and when you do you will have a pretty nice profit even after losing the X hands before that! Sure of course you might need an ASTOUNDINGLY HUGE bankroll, but instead of just doubling your bet to only be up $5 after winning the 11th bet after 10 losses, 2.5-3x your bet instead because like I said the odds are that you WILL shortly begin to win one game after losing so many in a row. Thoughts? Also, I wanna know the website of the Bernulli (sp.) formula that shows the odds of losing/winning in a row & if there are ANY variables that are in the way of those odds (stupid players, HOT dealers, etc.)? 2003-07-03 23:57:31
BJ Jedi some of these other websites, i have to wonder if they have been set up by the casinos themselves. does anyone know of that ever happening? also, I've never surrendered, even though I see it in some strategy tables, who surrenders, and when? 2003-07-03 20:14:48
sld girlfriend WHAT !! Is that all you like about me......you bastard! No more Titties for you! 2003-07-03 18:25:38
Mr. Ed Sld007, I hope your big...girlfriend in tow, doesn't know you frequent this site! She might soon become your FORMER big...girlfiend in tow! Any way, good luck in Shreveport! 2003-07-03 10:54:37
Desert Dog Doc, let us know how it works out tonight with the 1-2-3 strategy. If Okohiored also reports in after his kamikaze I mean Martingale sessions, it will be interesting to compare. Side note: It may just be my imagination, but dealers who see you not just playing good basic strategy, but also varying your bets, treat you with more respect. Perhaps from experience they know we're likely to place a bet out front for them after winning at the higher end of our progression. And sld007, I'm sure there won't be any other guys in the casino with a female companion matching that description so you'll be very easy to spot. 2003-07-03 09:58:14
