Thank all of you for your posts this morning. After "getting kicked in the groin" when I turned on the computer this morning, I really, really appreciate them. |

London Player- I try for 100% of buy in, But I will take 50% and start over. That is 50% "interest" on your money. A 40 unit win would depend on what your buy in is. If your buy in is 20 units, then a 40 unit win is too high. |

While I haven't had the pleasure of personally knowing Grifter like Midnite, I have been the recipient of his generosity in sharing his knowlege of Blackjack, as he would probably do for anyone who would ask in a polite way, so I mirror midnite on the coolness factor. Can't comment on this other guy, it would be child abuse. |

i also agree that when you play in a casino you should think of your money as units, for example i always aim to win 40 units per session, but i don't always play the same amount of money. does anyone have any views on the amount that i aim to win,do you think it is too much or too less. |

".....On the majority of the other sites, money is rarely discussed at all..every thing is talked about in "units". Anyone else have any thoughts? (from the amazing Grifter).
Yes, Grifter, that is the way it should be discussed here. And the person who wrote his opinion of you is silly and uneducated. You can tell what people really "are" by the Language they use :) |

I think misbehaving children should be denied the attention they seek..............I think very successful people are being very polite when they don't boast about how much they have.......I think if someone played blackjack regularly for 35 years and lost each year, he should be called a "philanthropist of entertainment corporations" rather than a moron, because he's got to be a billionaire to start with. Otherwise his loan sharks would have killed him by now. I think it more likely that someone who has played for 35 years knows what he is doing and is ahead. |

My thoughts : Bug is talking to himself. Whom ever wrote it, is just trying to make up for his shortcommings by casting aspersions on others. I know the Grifter and his lovely wife. I don't think I have to say it, but I will anyway. He is none of that. He is one cool dude. Which is one thing that the crap writer, will "Never" be.... |

Amazing...Overnight I became a deviate, ugly, fat, stupid, and a moronic queer simply because I choose not to disclose my yearly/lifetime gambling winnings on a public forum.....On the majority of the other sites, money is rarely discussed at all..every thing is talked about in "units". Anyone else have any thoughts? |

Win/Loss session limits: If I find myself up by 50% of my stake, I walk away figuring it's not likely to get much better than that, and if I stay longer I'm tempting fate. Better to walk out a moderate winner than a loser. And if I lose my stake, that's it for the day. So my loss limit is double my win limit. You need to sink deeper on the loss side in case things turn, as they often do. And you need to bail while you're only moderately ahead on the win side, again because things are bound to turn. Variation: if I've been down deep and managed to claw my way back to even, I'll probably quit if I've played long enough. |

acepaula-Listen to Midnite and Grifter.Set a reasonable win/loss limit and walk when you reach them. I strayed once on my loss limit in Vegas and it cost me my daily bankroll(sorry Midnite.I learned the hard way). If I learned anything from them, it is discipline, discipline, discipline. And the winbank is a great idea too. |

It does no good to set a loss limit, IF you don't stop when you reach it. Last weekend a guy I work with (green chip player) took $5,000 for a two day trip. He lost it all the first day. So.... he went to the ATM and paid $90 to get another $4,500. He dropped $8,370. With a $5,000 bankroll and a two day trip, he should have stopped with a loss of $2,500 the first day and played the second $2,500 the next day. Many players lack the discipline needed to be a sucessful player. I have seen a lot of decent players "go on tilt" and start steaming. (chasing losses) |

Ed...My post was purely coincidental and to be honest with you I missed the fact that you were talking about your lifetime hours/bankroll. I thought it was trip bankroll or something till I re-read it and saw the 90 hours. I was referring to "Players" with say 15-40 years of playing this silly game. I/We/They are not about to share their lifetime earnings/present bankroll with the "general public" like the Internet. It will never happen! Sorry for rambling....to answer your post. E-mail me and I will gladly answer those questions. (I posted my e-mail address yesterday). |

whoops - I meant lifetime winnings AND bankroll. |

Mr. Ed |
Grifter, you're not flat betting, are you? What spread do you use? Please don't answer the following questions if you think them too revealing, but do you play red, green or black (purple?!?) and what fraction of Kelly betting do you use? I'm asking because different levels of players have different concerns and I'd just like to put your comments in the proper context.
No offense taken from your "Player" comment, it just seemed funny to me that I gave all these details about my bankroll and then I read your post about keeping bankroll details private. |
