Yes! sld I doubled on a 3 card soft 16 vs a 4 at casino (playing this strategy) and everyone at the table thought I was wrong! It's a hard play to make, but I will continue to play perfect strategy until I can learn to count!

sld007-Vegas, Laughlin, Reno, Tunica & others. I haven't been to Shreveport, yet. I heard it was usually crowded. I play a couple of time a month. |

Ever been to shreveport? I go about
once a month. avg. win $1000 - 2500.
Win about 70% at least $500 and
RFB all covered. What about you? |

sld007-It must be a glitch in the program. It will also let you hit or split 8-8, when the dealer has a BJ. A-7 against a 3 is a DD, but a soft three card 18, is a stand. The good thing about Dahl's method is, it removes the chop and a short winning streak will make some $$. Glad to hear you have been doing well with it. |

midnite - thank you. i have been
quite successful with a modified
dahl type progression-that is 50,
50, 75, 75, 100, 100, 150, 150
and then back to 50. This way no
big loss at the end. Also, I was
just playing this hit or stand game
and it told me that i was incorrect
standing on a 3 card soft 18 against
a 3! It said i should hit? or double!?

sld007- "If" you get a long enough winning streak, Dahl does quite well. The trouble is the long winning streaks are hard to come by. There are many different progression methods, some are better than others. NEVER play a Mortingale (where you double your last bet, until you win) it is a sure loser. With most progressions you will have many small wins, only to be wiped out by one big loss. A modified progression my give you more bang for your buck, than flat betting. To each his own.

rob- yes and no. Most of the time you do, but not always. It is the correct play per basic startegy, but there may be overriding conditions. |

On CSMs (continuous shuffling machines) - yes their main purpose is to stop card counting. The manufacturer of one model even uses that as the sales point at his web site. However, if not card counting, my simulations show a continuous counting machine really acts like 6 decks - as far as playing strategy and win/loss percentage. The comment that it speeds up the game is also interesting. Yes. And I know at least one casino rates dealers by number of hands per hour. New California casinos seem to have mostly CSMs. Last trip to Vegas, it was about 50% CSMs for the places I went. |
