Doc- Thanks for another good site (very cool). A "must read" for players wanting to know about other methods of play. Doc, I like the way you approach the game. You are getting "seasoned", very fast. |

D- You can still count a pitch game. Maybe a little harder, but you can do it. The dealer always turns the cards over when paying and bust cards are also exposed, but not for very long. Many times you can see the other players cards. If you can't you can still get a "read" by how long the player looks at his hand. If he just glance's at his cards and slides them under his chips. He most likely has two picture cards.(figure -2) If he studies long and then slides them, he probably has a stiff and is afraid to hit. So you figure one big card and one little card. This is just a rough guess for the running count and to try and determine how to best play your hand. |

Here are some suggestions under real conditions for remembering BS; it is very easy to screw up pairs and soft totals, so go through this mental checklist: 1. Is it a pair? 2. Is it a soft total? Train your self to think "Ace, four", instead of "15".......practice with a blank grid. Know your problem areas; Hit 12v2,3 is hard. Hit 9v2 (but double 9v3-6) is another one. A7 is the hardest (I think) to remember. Here it's especially important to think "Ace, Seven" instead of "18". Double A7v3-6, hit A7v9,10,A.....With three or more cards ALWAYS hit A6, hit A7v9,10,A only, and stand with A8 or better....pairs are hard to remember. If what I tell you here doesn't work for you, that's fine, do what works for you.... 2s and 3s: you're basically starting from scratch: hit any subpar dealer up card, i.e. 2-7. You're hoping he'll bust or end up with a crappy 17.....4s: this is like an "8" only split when the dealer has a REALLY bad up card. Split against 5,6....5s: this is a "10", period. DOUBLE against 2-9.......for the rest, 6s,7s,8s,9s double for that card or less: 6s:2-6, 7s:2-7, 8s:2-8*, 9s:2-9**. STOP! **99v7 is such an "AUTOMATIC" win, STAND on 99v7....*Finally, ALWAYS split "Aces and Eights"....Soft total Doubles: I take them in pairs:...A2&A3v5,6...A4&A5v4,5,6...A6&A7v3,4,5,6. Here's the logic to these seemingly randon rules: It's more valuable to take a fourth card, than to double your bet for small soft totals. Say you have A2v3. Say you double and get a 3. Now you have soft 16. You should be hitting that hand! Don't double in the first place! Say you have A7v3. now you double and get the same 3. You have 21. "Good hit". The funny thing, is that you actually have a better hand when you HIT A2v4, than when your DOUBLE A5v4!!!! |

okohio...I always play with a strategy card. At first you may get smirks, but it's amazing, since I usually do o.k. or quite well, some of those who smirked when I brought out the card will start asking me what it says after a while...even tho I am a "girl"!!!! I love it. Once I ignored a "good ol boy" the first time he gave it to me for using the BS strategy card to hit an A7 vs 10, then when he did it a 2nd time, I told him "look at my chips....and look at yours (I had quite a pile at the time)" Others at the table cheered for me and he left!!! :) P.S. Go Blue! |

okohio, I've never heard of heat from the house, you may get some snickers, rolled up eyes from the dealer and folks may walk the table because they think you will take too long. I would suggest you get some BJ software, or go to yahoo games and play in a private BJ room, or deal yourself 5 or 6 hands of BJ at a time, as well as play tons of hitorstand, til you know BS like 2nd nature, this will allow you to pay attention to other game factors and enjoy the casino clevages, err, ambiance more. |

Deer Dog Deluxe, I've only heard good things about Pearl River, wish it was closer to me. Hey, if your name means what I think it means, how about this, my deer camp is just east of Dewitt AR and just over an hour from Tunica, how about you come over for a late season deer hunt in December then at night we'll hit the BJ tables in our (hopefully bloody)camos? |

If you want a short tutorial on common betting systems go to ACE-TEN.com, follow these links:Strategy, Intermeadiate Strategy, review these; then go to the Wagering System Comparison Engine and it will let you run multiple test runs of the various systems in comparison mode. Blackjack is a tactical game, your learn the tactics that the smart math guys have carefully worked out and play them, period, they are right you have to 'Trust the Math', but where does that leave us non-counters? We have to figure out if we can improve our play strategically (the counters say you can't) I think you can. Thats where familiarity with the game conditions in the casino come into play, and where people like Midnite and Grifter can save your ass, over 50 years of BJ experiance, you can listen or learn your own lesson$. |

please critic this progressive martingale use 6 in a row your odds of 1-81 losing 6.Now if you lose at 5.00 limitand martingale doubling is loss of 160.00 now quit the martingale and go to single bets of six times at 100.00 each taking advantage of 9999 of losing twelve in a row.If I do than I am out 760.00.Not the end of the world.Am still thinking of some value to martingale if used judiously. Now go ahead and blow holes in this theory, will check tonight after golfing.Any system to turn bogeys into birdies? |

The Martingale and the catch 22 - As you make the next bet in the Martingale series, you will lose half as many times, But you will lose Twice as much, when you do lose. Okohiored, lets say you had $20,000 and headed to Vegas for a week. You decided to try the Martingale. The first time you set down to play you lost the first 11 hands in a row. You are now down $10,115. (with the $5,000 table timit). Now what do you think is more likely to happen, you winning back the $10,115, Five dollars at a time or hitting another string of 11 straight losses ? I just lost 14 hands in a row, But they were pratice hands and not in a casino. If I would have lost 14 hands in the casino, the Most it would have cost was $200. Much eaiser to come back from being down $200, than $10,115.... |
