Steve, Midnite and Grifter - Don't forget that BS, regardless of deck size, is only 1/3 of the game. 1/3 is betting (progressive, regressive or based on the count) and the other 1/3 is money management (know when to get up and leave). As midnite stated, the little nuances between 1-2 deck and 6-8 deck won't matter much in the long run if you (i) don't somehow increase your bets as you are winning, (ii) are losing the splits and DDs and/or (iii) stick around for the "free" dinners and cigars and in the process lose your ass! I am absolutely devoted to BS, BUT Knowing how much to Bet and Knowing when to Jet must always be in the equation. |

Thanks Grifter and Midnite, I will definitly calm down on the details, I already am consistantly above 97% on hitarstand, the errors just being random Attention Deficit Disorder spikes, I'll settle for one multi-game BS and one for the 2 deck game which you can find in Tunica pretty easily at this point at 5 dollar tables during the day. I will save my energy for one deck games until I learn to count a little better. I still am wondering what casino games CasinoDealer thinks have an advantage over blackjack, sorta makes me wonder about him. |

Steve...Midnite "nailed it", and that's what I meant below about there "really" only being two basic strategies, 1-2 deck and 4-8 deck. I agree with Midnite that all those little nuances you are trying to learn are "marginal at best" and at this stage of your learning curve are only going to confuse you and turn your brain to mush. Just learn the one you play the most and play it perfectly. AND...since you are learning to count, THIS is where the significant changes to BS come into play. The indices for changing BS with the KO or any other system are far more important to you than the examples given below. Good luck, I'm off to play BJ. Any questions, feel free to e-mail me at grifter21@cox.net. I'll be back Monday p.m. |

Steve- concentrate on the basic strategy for the game, that you will be playing the most. Trying to learn all the different parameters at once, will mess with your melon. You are talking about very close plays anyway. (splitting hairs) Now if you are going from a six deck shoe, to a single deck, then you can look at the BS for a single deck game. What do you say Grif'. |

Sorry, last one. To find all the different parameters I went to customstrategycards.com and looked up the Tunica casinos. I have a sinking feeling I'm about to be told I'm taking this way too seriously, well at least I'm not a compulsive gambler, so far on my trips I've kept pretty good to my limits in both $ and time at the tables and am not to far behind in the long run, probably about expected with the inate house advantage against my game. |

Grifter, I hope I havent shown my stupidity since Im trying to learn this game by all myself, maybe these changes arent a big deal for you or maybe they are not neccessary at all, but at my age trying to learn new tricks is a big deal even if they are just a couple of easy changes.
But I went to blackjackinfo.com and put in the game parameters for the multi deck at the Grand (S17) and the multi-deck at all the other casinos (H17), the grand games is basicly the same as hitand run BS except you double 4,4 against dealer 5 or 6, and you 'double, if not allowed then stand' on A,7 against dealer 3-6. At the other casinos the program called for the following additional changes :A,8 you 'double if allowed, if not stand' agaist the dealer 6, the same for A.7 against a dealer 2. you also double an 11 against the dealer ace. All the Tunica double deck games were the same, and the program listed changes such as split 7s to the dealer 8, 6s to the dealer 7; Ds A,8 against dealer 6; Ds A.7 against2-6; double A,3 against 3-6, and a couple other changes......Am I working to hard at this? The algorythm for the tunica single deck game had additional changes. I would love to just play one basic strategy if I could. Any advise would be appreciated. |

luv8s: finding a $5 craps table won't be a problem during the week. The dealers are usually friendly. You should also try Mohegan Sun. It's just about five minutes away and they just expanded, lots of great restaurants and food. As far as the buffets go, I never tried them, but when I go solo I like to sit at the small ber at Cedars Steakhouse in Foxwoods...the food is always good, especially when you're winning |

Dave-My ol' Uncle told me that fish bite better if the worms are kept warm. He said to keep them in your mouth. So there I was at the lake, with a mouth full of nightcrawlers and then it dawned on me that, he was just kidding... He is quite a fisherman I guess. I think he won some award for baiting his hook. I think it was the Masterbaiter award, But I could be wrong... |

If your fishin' with me, it's lousy. Otherwise, trout, salmon, walleye and pike plus panfish depending on the time of year. |

Midnite-Mostly small, all are Native American casinos in the U.P. Of Michigan except @ Sault Ste Marie which is good sized. $5-$25 mininum with normal rules. Most of the venues are new. Crowds are small except during deer season(last two weeks of Nov.). Great scenery and some good golf along Lake Superior. If you and The Grifter ever want some back-woods gambling, a road trip through upper Minnesota, Wisconsin and upper Michigan would be a great trip. Leave your tuxedo at home! Are there any Yoopers or cheesheads out there care to comment? |

HELP-Easy one...."Two, Three, Seven; split and hope for eleven." (so you can double, obviously). |

HELP |
Does anyone have a good nemonic saying to remember to split 2's and 3's against a dealers 7? I can not seem to remember this no matter how many times I try to drill it into my thick skull. Thanks |

Steve...Congrats on your progress with BJ. I am INTRIGUED and curious about one statement you made, to wit ".....into the minor changes of CUSTOMIZED basic strategy for the different games(all at Tunica)". I am only aware of the very, very minor differences between BS for 1-2 deck and 4-8 deck (and I've posted on them except for splitting 4's vs dealer's 5 or 6.) The games for Tunica are virtually the same as LV. What customization are you doing? I'm sure we would all like to know if you want to share them.....Thanx, G. |
