Thanks Midnite. I'm new to BJ, in fact never gambled at all before this year, but being the obsessive type, still have a ways to run with it before I try another card game. I've gotten past generic basic strategy, now I'm into the minor changes of customized BS for the different games (all at Tunica), and am starting to drill a little bit on the count. I'm going to start off by learning the KO, even though Im an MD, I have always had a block on this type of easy math so there is a good possibility that I may never get the count up and working. But thats OK, I'm a divorced Doctor with a modest lifestyle so I've got plenty of money, its just nice to head over to Tunica (live 3 hours away), and be able to play a strong game, basic stragety with a conservative positive betting progression has let me do that. I may get bored one day and try some of the other card games (Ballys has .25 Craps table, I use that to rest between BJ sessions)but BJ BS takes you to less than 1% right, why would you want to play anything else? If you ever get to Tunica let us know so we can watch a pro.
The site has helped my casino play 200%, and the sage advise is taken to heart, let me know if you have anymore. |

Steve- The other game besides craps with a low house percentage is Baccarat. A bet on the Player has a house edge of only 1.36 % and a bet for Banker has a 1.17 % edge. One of the easiest games there is, to play. |

pmppaul....To my knowledge, NOBODY on the strip has gone to 6:5 BJ for double deck (single deck yes). Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Best DD games IMHO are as I posted earlier; Bellagio's, Mirage, Caesars. |

CasinoDealer, Just one more question, other than the odds bet at craps, what other games are you talking about that have a better playing advantage, than say a DD or SD BJ game played with basic stragety and no count? |

Midnite - I mostly play at Mystic Lake Casino, I like it because they do not serve alcohol. This really changes the make up of the crowd and overall atmosphere of the casino. The floor is always crowded but you can usually find a seat at a friendly table. The rules are ok accept the dealer hits a soft 17, other than that BJ pays 3/2, DOS, DAS. The casinos furthur north are less crowded which is nice but the dealers are not as professional. It was nice to hear from a dealer on this board, a good dealer really makes a difference. |

Alway nice to hear from "the other side of the table". I have several friends that are dealers. It is very poor manners to blame the dealer, when you lose. If you can't stand to lose, don't sit down at the table......And for ol' 21 Coors Lights, remember this...Drink too much Booze and you are sure to Lose..... |

Hello, I accidently stumbled across this site. I have pit experience to go by. I'm here to set a few of the myths straight regaurding your freindly Casino dealers and life in the pit. Just because we are asked all the time.
1."How much do you make?" We have a tip job that pays min. wage to start,no commision from the casino.
2."How do I win?" You won't make money unless you know how to bet, and if you do want to make money there are games with better player advantage opposed to BJ.(in other words just enjoy it as you would a game of billiards)
3."How do I act at a table?" We deal with all types of people especially when they are drunk. So manners and table etiquette are greatly appreciated though not req. Remember use ONE HAND for the cards and NEVER TOUCH YOUR BET after it is placed.
4."Why do you have all these bets? 6/5 BJ, DD, split, Ins. etc." In reference to a "Sucker" or house bet, think of it this way. All bets are made to increase playability for you as well as the casino. You just notice it more from your end of the table.
5."oops I'm sorry" Even though we may convince you that it's alright. Don't spill your drink on the layout because we hate that, allot less if you appologize profusely.
6. "What should I do when..." I can only tell you how "the book" wants you to play. You can do whatever you want to ... just do it consistently.
7."Horray/ Bahhumbug" We really do like to see people win, but don't be a sore loser. The game goes on weather you win or lose.
8."I'm going for it" Never go "all-in" even if you may win once it will become a habit that will be hard to break.
9."How do I get..." Get a tracking card, even if you play occasionaly. The Pit boss deciding who gets a comp is over. It's your average bet and time of play.
10."Why do you guys win all the time" We don't we just play longer and consistent. We have no control over the cards coming out(at least in Nevada by gaming control Private establishments are questionable)In fact behind the table it is all procedure including the shuffle.
Good Luck! I hope this helps you concentrate on the game itself. Just like anything else it runs on streaks. Just have fun. |

Just found this board and love the information. I want my wife to see this board so I wont look so bad sneaking off to Tahoe or Reno 6-10 times a year. I usually go with friends to get drunk as hell and see what kind of chips are in my pocket when I wake up in the morning, but some of the advice here might better bulge the pockets. Thanks D |

D- I live quite aways from the Motor City so I play The Native American casinos. Soaring Eagle is nice and so is the Soo. You can't swing a dead cat up north without hitting a casino. |
