Dede T Anyone know of any blackjack sites that allow you to play with other people, like planetpoker.com Thanks email me dedethom@aol.com 2003-04-09 20:34:47
Gus CJ: There is no doubt that being a dealer and putting up with customers that have been drinking and probably losing money is a tough job. But every job has it's down side. I'm not Dr Phil, but my advice to you would be, "If you don't like your job, get a new one" All jobs have a downside, you just have to pick one that you can live with. 2003-04-09 17:00:00
cj I have been very nice to people and giving them money and received nothing in return. We are there for the same reason you are to make money. Dealers take a alot of abuse. I don't think you have people coming up to you at your place of employment and calling you names do you? 2003-04-09 16:46:15
Gus Ace: I don't know the exact wage scale for dealers in LV, but I know it isn't much. It is true that they depend on tips to make a decent living. But a dealer does not keep his/her own tips. They are pooled and divided evenly among all the dealers and all the shifts. This is probably the most equitable method for the casinos and dealers. 2003-04-09 16:04:50
Ace Gus, you seem to share my philosophy on the subject of tipping the dealer. I was playing recently at Tropicana in AC & dealer was trying to be intimidating/putting everyone down because the tips weren't flowing. I was ready to leave, when he said "goodnite!" his shift was over. What a punk! I hope he went home & started looking for a new job as you suggested to CJ. I still wonder if it's true, as I've heard, that they earn minimum wage. 2003-04-09 08:19:04
Gus CJ: Here's a tip for ya. Get into a new line of work! I'll tip if I'm winning. I'll even tip if I'm losing if the dealer is fun. But I won't tip if the dealer is rude (as you seem to be), or if the dealer expects tips just for being there (as it seems you do). A tip is a bonus. Earn it! Don't expect it! 2003-04-08 21:16:40
CJ HEY ACE TIP YOUR DEALER. IF YOU DON'T I TRY TO DO EVERYTHING I CAN TO GET YOU OFF MY TABLE. (BLACKJACK DEALER) 2003-04-08 20:42:44
sld007 NEWBY - Yes, a "soft" 18 is still a "soft" 18...except for double down strategy (which you can't do with 3 cards) 2003-04-08 12:59:45
NEWBY BASIC STRATEGY ADVICE PLEASE...DO I TREAT A 3 CARD COMBINATION (A, 3, 4) THE SAME AS THE BASIC STRATEGY FOR A, 7? 2003-04-08 11:08:06
sld007 kevco- my experience with single deck has had two drawbacks: 1. The table minimums are usually $100/hand and 2. They shuffle so much and there is so little deck penetration that you might as well be playing 6-8 decks. The randomness factor is almost as bad. 2003-04-08 09:52:50
pshea Kevco - Probably because there not that easy to find. In the Northeast we have two casinos, both in CT, that's it. Foxwoods plays an eight deck shoe, and the Mohegan also plays eight deck shoes with a few CS machines mixed in. 2003-04-08 05:20:50
Kevco Sorry--My question was why no single deck players, such as at Binion's. 2003-04-07 15:35:22
kevco Thanks for turning me on to Dahl. My previous system was my own creation. Start with $100. Bet the first hand $10. If I lose, bet $5. until I get back above the initial $100 start, if I hit a $50 loss I quit. Above $150 increase bet to $15. Back below $150, decrease bet to $10 and below $125 take profit. Above $200 increase bet to $20 and back below $200 decrease bet to $10 and take profit below $150 ect. Over the past 5 years I am up about 3% playing basic strategy. Why do single deck players ie Horseshoe? To see all the 5's on the first hand is somewhat of an advantage. 2003-04-07 15:33:05
Grifter Michigan Dave...I will be playing with Midnite in Laughlin tomorrow and Wednesday. Will pass your thanks on to him. 2003-04-07 06:38:59
sld007 michigan dave - so good to hear from you and your thoughts re: Dahl. When should you leave? Ahh my friend that is the ultimate defining moment isn't it? I buy in for $500 and leave when I lose it or double it, period. Then I go get a steam, massage, etc. Watch some idiots playing slots and then start all over again. Basic Strategy is 1/3, How to bet another 1/3--but don't forget money management--the often forgotten 1/3. Also, don't drink at the table-messes up your thinking. Save it for the room when you're doing the wife or girlfriend thing. I'm leaving for Caesar's tomorrow--best place to play in Vegas, Know why? It's like a church--no nonsense. No rock and roll groupies, guys trying to get laid, etc. Just BJ plain and simple, Friendly dealers and great comps too. 2003-04-06 17:40:15
Michigan Dave brbg-Tables ARE streaky. That is why I should have had a good exit strategy when the tables turned bad. And when playing Dahl, winning 2 then losing 1 will net a + 1/2 unit. 2003-04-06 08:35:10
Michigan Dave p.s. Forgot to publicly thank Midnite Gambler for all his help too. Good Luck @ The Hilton! One last story. Was playing just before leaving and I overheard the lady behind me tell her husband that I was not a very good player. HA! Guess who won and who lost that session? 2003-04-06 07:24:21
