Just returned from LV.Played from 3/30 PM to 4/4 AM. I used SLD007's Modified Dahl's method (thanks SLD)and ended up -15 units. BUT had more losing sessions(2/1) than winning and the amount of play I had (about 24 hours) sure feels like even. My biggest problem (being new at BJ)was I did not have a losing exit strategy(playing until it was time to do the wife thing is NOT a good exit strategy).I did not stick to the four loss in a row plan that I was going to use but I would walk when I won 50% of my buy in. 40x your bet seemed to be the proper amount to have. I played $10 tables and boycotted ALL 6/5 BJ tables so that limited my choice of tables but i was only a short walk from a different casino(@ The Flamingo). At least 80% of players at the $10 tables not using basic strategy. All tables hitting a soft 17. Did I miss something? No problem using basic strategy help cards @ the tables. I made a BIG version for ease of reading(hard for me to read the casino card). Pit boss @ Bally's checked out my paper. He said he had never seen one like my format before (xls spreadsheet)so maybe he was looking for something else? Finally, If Sal The Dealer is on the floor @ Bally's RUN AWAY! He works the morning shift (4AM-?) and cleaned me out every time.Comps and cash were best @the Trop and so were the tables(Fremont was good too).Worst? Bally's(see above). Thanks to everyone on this site for your advice. Had a great time. |

I am 18 years and go to the casino. I play with my with my stragety card. How hard would it be to learn to count card? From my schooling and understanding of proprobility it really only helps if you play thought to the end of the deck. Where i play they play with 6 decks. What is some advice for me, and what do they do if your caught counting? Is it illegal? |

brbg - I too would love to see talk of BJ again. So perhaps you should return to your room, drop some more X, whack off to your playboy and let the adults talk now. |

batonrouge - I read Dahls book a couple of weeks ago, it was pretty good. True it doesn't take a lot of pages to cover his progression method, but I found the rest of the book to be just as enjoyable. I haven't tried his Progression yet, I'm going down to CT. in a week or so, I'll ty it then. I have tried it at free blackjack sites online and it does seem to work. Flat betting gets boring, this seems to do at least as well as flat betting. |

hey asshole, slow down with ur assumptions and snide remarks. that wasnt MY review or MY criticism. it was A review that i found when checking out Dahls book. if you read it i ask at the end what anybody thinks of this review since i was seriously considering trying it out. just wanted some feedback on what this guy was saying. kind of sounded like he knows what he is talking about, doesnt it? dont know the system, dont know the book, but kind of seems like he makes some good points. and im glad we will never be at the same table, cuz i dont like playing with pricks. i like enjoying myself, and playing with the meager amount of money i can afford to have fun with...ass |

baton rouge-I guess I'll just have to give back all that $$$$ I've won in the last 4 years since I discovered Dahl. Who are you to criticize Dahl? In your other message you said that sometimes you bet on how you feel. Jeez! Thank goodness you only bet $10/hand so I won't ever be seeing you at my table! |

Review of Dahl's- Progression Betting
Reviewer: A reader from NY.
This book is a bad one, it is
based on the idea that you will
have streaks of luck. Anyone who
has ever taken a statistics course
knows that in the long run these
streaks even out and do not really
exist. The strategy is also based
on the fact that you need to win
at least three hands in a row to
start making more money. When
the author fails to metion that
every time you win two hands
in a row and lose the next one
then you end up winning less
money than if you had just bet
the same every time
(and statistically you will win
two hands in a row on average
more than three). The book
consists of exactly four pages
of actual blackjack strategy
and about 100 bitching about
how bad card counting is.
Dahl never even states that
he has ever broken ahead in
his life time playing
blackjack, he never states
that you will actually win
using his method or that you
have an actual statistical
advantage over the house.
Worst of all this method
doesn't even have a
statistical betting advantage
over even bets. Dahl's
strategy is like a donkey with
a spinning wheel, no one knows
where he got it and damned if
he knows how to use it.
ANYONE HAVE A COMMENT ABOUT THIS REVIEW?
I WAS CONSIDERING USING IT UNTIL...
PS. The 5 star reviews must be done by him because anyone with a 4th grade education should realize this doesn't work
