sld007- Yep, there will be times when you can not hit a 12 or 13, without busting and the dealer will make hand after hand, on his 15's and 16's. You "only" lost 34 units, if you play long enough, you will see some "much" worse than that. That should cheer you up. :) Good luck next weekend. |

jpk- I am a staunch proponent of the Dahl system and wrote the email on page 4. Even in bad shoes you will only lose the minimum. Case in point-last week in shreveport I got the absolutely worst run of cards in twenty years. losing with 19s and 20s, pushing with 21s, dealer never busting etc. I only lost 1700 and played at the 50 level for over 6 hours. Most shoes were small losses, 100 here 200 there and I quit each time when I was down 500 and went to "rest" for at least an hour. Whaddaya gonna d0? It happens. Anyhow going back to the Shoe next weekend to start over. |

The bet doubling system - martingale - that people are talking about. It is quite popular and wins for a small time, and then the big losses. I have simulated it for millions of hands as a strategy and finds out that one loses more than if simply betting normally - assuming of course there is a max bet at the table. |

Actually, the chances of losing 8 hands in a row assuming no house adv. is (1/2)^8, or 1 in 256 (356 must be a typo). But yeah, Martingale will help you win more sessions, BUT the winnings will be small, and your losses, when they happen will be huge. Not worth it. Not to mention the max bet factor.... |

adeal;also have you thought about if when you are doubling your bets you get some hands you get the chance to double and split your bets, and when they don't go your way you will get wiped out very quickly. |

adeal-Go ahead and "think" about doubling your bet after a loss, just " Don't Do It".... That is the ol' Martingale and has been around for years. It is a sure loser. The odds of losing 8 hands in a row are 1 in 356. |

I've been thinking about always doubling my bet everytime I lose until I win. However, I think that table limits may prevent that from working. The key to my strategy is knowing what is the probability of losing 8 hands or more in a row. If anyone knows this or can tell me how to find out I would greatly appreciate it. In Royer's book, "Powerful Profits from Blackjack", he says that the statistical mean is 3.83 hands however I still need more info. |

I just returned from stateline NV lake tahoe. Played single and double deck BJ with little success because you can only double down on a hand of 8,9,10,11; depending on the game. These rules seem hard to beat. Does anyone know where single or double deck games are where you can double on any hand? |

jack-There are very few differences between the 6 & 8 deck strategys. (See Rules & Strategy) The game will let you use either one. AC = 8 deck shoes... Vegas = 6 deck shoes.... |

sld you are wrong with a soft 18 you must double if the dealer is showing 3-6...stand on 2 , 7 or 8 and hit on anything else...i have a quick question...AC style...is 6 decks correct? while las vegas plays 8 decks? |
